Bio

Maurizio Amendola (1985) is a writer and screenwriter.

He grew up in Crotone. In Pisa, he studied philosophy and worked as a DJ, a wedding videographer and a football coach for young children on the outskirts of the city.

In Turin, he attended Scuola Holden: two pretty intense years of writing films and TV series, novels, comics and bits and pieces of copyright law. From that time, he remembers escaping to Locarno for a workshop led by Emmanuel Carrère, where he learnt that an artist’s research can take many forms: autofiction intertwined with the story of a murderer, a serial drama with a light touch of fantasy, an intimate film swept up in psychological conflict, yoga.

He now lives in Tuscany and travels often. He is studying on the European Master in Creative Writing at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem, in the Netherlands. Every so often, he retreats to his wife’s bookshop to work. At home, two cats await them: Mimì and Will Poe.
